bonfire night

Excitement filled the night, with sights and sounds and smells - a distant tumult calling out to us as soon as we stepped off the tram. we settled on a spot far from the crowd and watched the fireworks go off, like flowers blossoming in the sky. a little further down, the silhouettes stood huddled together, gazing up at the lights dancing and disappearing in turn. the cold had seized everything in its grip, enveloping us in an icy layer of repose. a golden spiral launched itself high into the night. we stood like statues amid the fluorescence and glamour - eyes fixed upon fire fleeting, shadows lingering in the afterglow.

しゃべる

my love for you is
like sushi rice; small white grains
clinging to your chin

---

gunpowder smell in
autumn air; fireworks have
ended, warmth still there

---

my love for you is
like chocolate bar; quickly
gone, too much sugar

the pathologist

"do you think i'm pretty," she asks.
he pauses and shuffles over till his face is right next to hers.
"honestly?"
"yeah"
"i think you're more than pretty; you're almost too pretty actually - could you tone it down a little please"
she rolls her eyes; tries not to smile. "you're full of shit,"
"i'm serious - i feel sorry for all the girls who have to stand next to you in the subway or in an elevator. i feel sorry for all the guys on earth who never got a chance to hold you."
"well.  that's really sweet of you to say"
"it's the truth"
she scoffs. "that's not the truth"
"what do you mean?"
"that can't be the truth. it's too smooth -- too romantic to be truth"

---

it's only in waking that we question the absurd, only out of dreaming that the word 'surreal' possesses meaning

---

"you doctors work twenty-four hours a day, don't you? You're always in demand."
she smiles
"Sometimes twenty-five,"

a world that punishes you for being honest

dreams of the day

got into an argument with my mom, went mad and lost seven teeth

---

met Robin Williams and watched him entertain a crowd with his signature manic wit, then got acquainted with his silent, sensitive side as he drove me and his french adoptive daughter to a private medical facility somewhere along the outskirts of a Canadian suburb where his girlfriend worked in emergency medicine and during the tour his two kittens started chasing me

Long Revision
